How to Get the Most Out of Your Retro Word Search

Make it cozy: Brew a cup of tea or float a cherry on top of a cream soda, put on a Billie Holiday or Sinatra playlist, and invite a little old-school charm into your evening.

Play with themes: Flip to a page that matches your mood—Cinema Night (think Marquee, Matinee, Ticket Booth), Diner Days (Milkshake, Jukebox, Soda Jerk), or Dance Floor (Cha-Cha, Charleston, Lindy Hop).

Share the fun: Fold the book open at the kitchen table and solve together. The large print and clean layout make it easy for multiple pairs of eyes to join in.

Keep a mini scrapbook: Circle a word that jogs a memory—drive-in theater, varsity jacket, penny candy—and jot a note in the margins. Your future self will thank you.

Note from the Author 💜

I’ve always believed nostalgia is a kind of time travel. A word, a song title, a movie star’s name—suddenly you’re there (maybe even again) : the drive-in speaker crackling, the marquee glowing, the jukebox whirring into your favorite tune. I never got to experience these things but when I watch TV and hear songs of the past I fall in love. Especially with the fashion. I created this Retro Word Search (Large Print Edition) to wrap you in that feeling—cozy, familiar, tender around the edges—while giving your brain something satisfying to nibble on.

As a puzzle maker and an unabashed retro romantic, I curated these word lists to feel like a real conversation with the past. You’ll bump into the glam of Hollywood’s Golden Age, the simple delight of a soda fountain afternoon, and the energy of a sock-hop with a crisp letter sweater and a stack of 45s. My hope is that each puzzle brings back a memory—or creates a new one you’ll want to keep.
